Temporary Visions is a new project initiated by saxophonist Esmée Olthuis and filmmaker Fred Pelon. The project shows a refreshing view on the connection between music and film. The project is progressive, leading and of high quality. The starting point is to investigate the tension bow, the similarities and incompatibilities, between the pre-made films and the instant composed and improvised music.
The exceptional abstract collage films are developed by using unorthodox methods like molds on 'found footage' films and are projected on 16 mm films but also by using beamer. The films are pure in their form and little manipulated just like the music.
The musicians interpret the films not just to dramatize them, but much more to intervene and make connections in a way you would not expect. Specially parameters like rhythm and motions are used to 'come together' and make the story complete. One can not do without the other, although film and music can both sometimes be the leading topic.
Filmmaker Fred Pelon is a well known artist and maker of experimental films in the Netherlands.
